Free & Reduced Meal Benefits

This communication is being sent to all district families as a reminder that if your family was approved for free or reduced meals during the 2017-18 School Year and you have not reapplied for the 2018-19 School Year, you must do so as soon as possible in order to avoid loss of meal benefits.

Applications for free and reduced meal benefits must be completed annually. Families are given a 30-day (school days) grace period to submit applications for the new school year. This year’s 30-day grace period expires on Monday, October 15, 2018.

IMPORTANT: If a new application is not received, processed and approved within this 30-day timeframe, the family will lose benefits and will be placed on paid status, effective Tuesday, October 16, 2018.

Please also note that any meal charges incurred as a result of meals received from the time the family loses meal benefits to the time that the family reapplies and is approved for the new school year remains the sole responsibility of the family to pay. Applications cannot be backdated or made retroactive.

If you feel that your family still qualifies for benefits and you wish to continue receiving free or reduced meals for the 2018-19 School Year, please complete and return the attached application to: Edgerton School District, Attn: Pete Hamilton, 200 Elm High Drive, Edgerton, WI 53534. If you or your family has additional resource needs beyond free or reduced meals, please don't hesitate to reach out to Drew Wellman, Director of Pupil Services, at 608-561-6091 to discuss your situation.

If you have any questions regarding the application or approval status for the current school year, please call Pete Hamilton at (608) 561-6062 for assistance.
